Friends of Shottery
Welcome to FoS!
We warmly invite (and encourage!) all parents to join us when their daughter starts school with us. It's a great way to meet new people and really get a feel for what goes on at SGGS.
FoS is a parent-run group that provides a variety of events in the course of the school year with the aims of:
- raising funds to provide facilities to enhance the learning experience for all our girls, and
- promoting and supporting the social and community aspects of the school (we aim to put the fun into fundraising!).
The funds we have raised over the years have helped to purchase items like a mini-bus, a sound system for the school hall, picnic tables and benches, a collection of netbooks, laptops and Raspberry Pi computers and a variety of photographic equipment, along with many other items.
The ‘FoS Fitness Suite’ is so named in
recognition of our £25,000 contribution
over 5 years to the school’s development
of the Hargreaves building.
This is in addition to maintaining our
support for other items requested by the school.
On the social side, we organise a range of events – some for the girls, some for the parents and the wider school community too. FoS discos are a social highlight for girls in Years 7&8, the Y11 Prom is a must for that year group, and the annual Year 13 Graduation Garden Party is a lovely summer evening in the Manor garden for that year’s leavers and their parents. For the wider school community, we hold a range of events which have included Quiz nights, a Murder Mystery evening, Cheese and Wine tasting, Pamper evenings, Festive FoS, Barn Dances, Music & Arts, … and we support school events by providing refreshments and raffles at concerts and drama productions throughout the year too.
The Stratford Art Fair in the Town Hall is organised and hosted by FoS annually. FoS also supports The Shakespeare Hospice through a minimum of a 10% donation from funds raised from the Art Fair. This money will go towards supporting young people with life limiting illnesses and their families and carers, including transitional and bereavement care - a fantastic and very deserving cause. Why not pop along to our dedicated website here, and have a look.
None of this can happen without the support of the parents in the school. We need you to get involved to help raise funds and organise events – it is all our daughters who will benefit. Check on the links below to find out more about what we are doing and feel free to contact us on our dedicated email address (firstname.lastname@example.org) should you need more information, have any ideas for other events or wish to volunteer to help.
We look forward to welcoming you to the team!
