An Evening of Roald Dahl

This half term saw the culmination of all our hard work in creating a fabulous evening of Roald Dahl performance work.

Over one hundred students fastidiously attended rehearsals every week in order to bring alive an array of vivid and interesting characters for our Evening of Roald Dahl. In the absence of a school hall, performances took place in the Library, in the drama studio and all around the Garrett building – in corners, under the stairs, in classrooms acting as performance art spaces – and the audience were invited to stroll around at their leisure. It really was a tremendous collection of talent and enthusiasm. In addition to Mrs Barrett, they were ably led by a team of sixth form directors: Lydia Hadded and Julia Grogan, who inspired their cast with dedication and commitment. Well done to everyone involved - directors, crew and cast. A few thoughts from some of the girls involved follow…

“We have enjoyed the insight into the way productions are made and produced, and being involved in this activity for all year groups. Also doing all the hair and make-up on the nights was great fun! I would do it again without hesitation!”  -  Holly Unwin, Year 7, The Witches

“We all enjoyed working on the School Play as it gave us a chance to meet people outside our year group and become friends with them. It was really fun performing to the audiences and watching my other friends perform was really fun!”  -  Pippa Chapman, Year 8, The Twits

“We have been rehearsing since autumn half term every week and have really enjoyed the experience of being in the play. Performing was great fun and the audiences were amazing!”  -  Antonia Williams, Year 8, The Twits
