Staging King Lear in the basement of Blackwell’s bookshop was an amazing idea; the way in which they used the flapping books in the strobe light to create the storm on the heath was simple but very effective and atmospheric. I liked the modern techniques like the voice recorder and the haunting soundtrack that placed the play in a new context. The use of the costume changes to signify the change of characters was very clever especially the use of the two contrasting scarves for the actress playing both Goneril and Regan. It was incredible to think there were only five actors playing all the parts - an inspiring performance.
