Photography - A practical, theoretical and expressive approach to photography
The power of the captured image is now woven into the fabric of our lives, from family shots, phone captures, advertising, news, displays and so on, from the first cave paintings to the current avalanche of images uploaded every day. Many students will want to explore photography as a subject in itself. All student should be aware of its applications in any career they may wish to follow, and if they are able to create their own images to support their work, their presentation and impact can be fully controlled.
Students will learn manual control of DSLR cameras (and similar, even looking at manual control of their phones where applicable). The ability to capture an image is then complemented by an understanding of the principles of digital processing software.
At the end of the course, students prepare a portfolio exhibition of their finished work - a great opportunity to show their technical and creative skills.
