Welcome

Welcome to Stratford Girls' Grammar School; a place where bright, ambitious girls succeed.  We are enormously proud of our position as the top girls' state school in Warwickshire and we work hard to ensure our permanent ranking as one of the best state schools in the country.  We shape futures.

People are often surprised to learn that we are not a fee-paying school.  It is a common misconception due largely to the destinations and outcomes of our students and our enviable setting on the outskirts of Stratford-upon-Avon, both of which are academically and culturally comparable to schools in the independent sector.

We are incredibly proud to be the trusted custodians of the beautiful Shottery Manor.  This historic 15th century building represents the long-upheld traditions of our school since it began in 1958, yet it sits elegantly and with ease alongside the modern state-of-the-art facilities that ensure our students benefit from truly 21st century teaching and learning.  This, together with our excellent extra-curricular opportunities, mean that our students are quickly and fully immersed into our community, encouraged and challenged to take advantage of all of the opportunities they are presented with.  Music, Drama, Art and Sport are all strengths within our school and we have a strong reputation for success in these areas.

You are warmly invited to explore our website to find out more about what we offer, how we can help you to achieve, the support we provide during your journey and of course how to apply to join us.

  • Shaping Futures

    Shaping Futures

The future is not a destination or a place. The benefits of pursuing a desired future are more valuable than arriving because when we try to shape our futures, we shape ourselves in the process.

  • Support

    Support

Ensuring a positive and robust support system is in place for each and every student is of paramount importance at SGGS. The benefits of having such a system, such as higher levels of well-being, increased motivation, improved coping and learning skills all contribute to a clearer pathway to success.

  • What a fantastic Enrichment Week! Photos are still coming in from the many activities and trips that have taken place throughout the week, but we couldn't wait to share a selection of the brilliant experiences our students have enjoyed. On site, students have thrown themselves into a huge variety of activities including Esports, stage make-up, Frisbee Golf, creating Crystal Maze challenges, a workshop with HighlySprung Physical Theatre Company, science activities, Mock Magistrates, an expedition with overnight camping on our centre lawn, Silent Movies, Drag Race, 'Traitors', knitting and 'The Climate Challenge'. Our off-site adventures have been just as exciting. Year 7 have had an incredible time at PGL, while other students have enjoyed trips to Oxford and the Warner Bros. Studio Tour – The Making of Harry Potter. We hope every student has had the opportunity to try something new, develop new skills, build confidence and strengthen friendships along the way. A huge thank you to all of the staff and external providers who have helped make this week's activities such a success. We can't wait to share even more photos over the coming days! #SGGS #PersonalDevleopment #Enrichmentweek

  • we couldn't be prouder of our Year 10 and Year 12 students! This week, as part of our Enrichment Week, our Year 10 & 12 students have been out on work experience, representing the school in a wide range of workplaces – and the feedback we've received has been fantastic. Employers have praised our students for their enthusiasm, professionalism, confidence, willingness to learn and positive attitudes. They've embraced new challenges, asked thoughtful questions and made a real impression on the people they've been working alongside. We are incredibly proud of the way they have represented our school and themselves. Opportunities like work experience are invaluable in helping students develop new skills, build confidence and explore future career pathways. A huge thank you to all of the employers who have welcomed and supported our students this week, and well done to every one of our Year 10 and Year 12 students for being such excellent SGGS ambassadors. You should all be very proud of what you've achieved! . . #SGGScareers #SGGSpride #StratfordUponAvon #warwickshire

  • SGGS House Music Festival! Our school was filled with energy this afternoon as students proudly represented their Houses in a fantastic celebration of music. The audience brought plenty of enthusiasm, creating an electric atmosphere and cheering on every performance. From outstanding soloists on the piano and violin to stunning vocal performances, our talented musicians showcased remarkable skill and confidence. We were also treated to brilliant bands performing crowd favourites that had us singing along. The festival concluded with one of our favourite traditions – the Year 7 House Songs. The standard this year was exceptional, with each House demonstrating impressive collaboration and creativity. It was wonderful to see our newest students embracing the spirit of House competition with such enthusiasm. Congratulations to every student who performed and to everyone who helped make today's festival such a memorable celebration of talent, teamwork and House pride. #SGGS #HouseMusic #StudentTalent #SchoolCommunity #HousePride #CreativeArts
