Admissions
We are delighted that you are considering Stratford Girls' Grammar, one of the best state schools in the country and the top performing school in Warwickshire. To find out more, please join us at one of our Open Events.
Each year we take 120 students into Year 7. Admission to the School in Year 7 is determined by a child's performance in the Entrance Test (the 11+) and the School's oversubscription criteria. (For details of our oversubscription criteria please see the School’s Admissions Policy for 2023 or 2024 below).
Our Year 7 Admissions are coordinated by Warwickshire County Council, School Admissions on behalf of the school.
If your daughter was born between 1st September 2012 and 31st August 2013 you may register for her to sit the test for entry in September 2024 between 8th May 2023 and 30th June 2023.
Candidates may sit the Entrance Test once only.
Please refer to the appropriate Admissions Policy for information regarding your application for a Year 7 place. For any other query, prior to National Offer day on 1st March, please contact the Headteacher's PA by email on HeadsPA@sggs.org.uk
To find out more about admissions or registering for the 11+, including how to register your daughter, please visit Warwickshire County Council's website or contact the Schools Admission Service on admissions@warwickshire.gov.uk or telephone 01926 414143.
Information and Important Dates for Parents and Carers
For September 2024 entry:
You can register for the test from 8th May 2023.
Applications for a place must be submitted to your home local authority by 11.59pm on 31st October 2023.
Parents/carers should be aware that registering for the 11+ test is not the same as applying for a school place – see the section ‘Applications for a School Place’ (2.3.9) in our Admissions Policy below
The closing date for registration is 11.59pm on 30th June 2023.
Details of test venues will be sent by Warwickshire Admissions to families who registered their child to sit the test via Warwickshire by the deadline from 15th August 2022. Packs will be sent in batches throughout August. If you registered your child for the entrance test by the published deadline and you have not received an invitation pack by 26th August 2023 then you must contact Warwickshire Admissions as a matter of urgency
The available places will be offered in accordance with the admission criteria in the first round of offers – Friday 1st March 2024 (2024 Admissions).
The Test
There will be two papers, each of approximately 45 minutes. The papers will be divided into smaller, individually timed sections, which test Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning and Numeracy.
For each paper, the children will be given a question booklet which contains the test questions and a separate answer sheet to mark their answers. The answer sheets will be processed electronically and scanned to make a record of each child’s answers.
In-Year Transfers - Years 7 to 11
School does not operate a waiting list for Year 7 after 31st December.
If your daughter is 12 years or older please contact the Headteacher's PA by email on HeadsPA@sggs.org.uk for further advice. In your email, please include your daughter’s name, current year group, date of birth and current school. Please also let us know if she has taken the 11+ test and if so, when it was taken and what her score was.
If you have not yet moved to the area, please include a date for when you intend to do this.
Please note our school entrance tests cannot be conducted online, so your daughter will need to be booked to sit our test. Various dates are available throughout the year.
If your daughter is 11 years old, please contact the Warwickshire County Council Schools Admission Service on 01926 414143 or email them on admissions@warwickshire.gov.uk
