We are delighted that you are considering Stratford Girls' Grammar, one of the best state schools in the country and the top performing school in Warwickshire. To find out more, please join us at one of our Open Events.
Each year we take 120 students into Year 7. Admission to the School in Year 7 is determined by a child's performance in the Entrance Test (the 11+) and the School's oversubscription criteria. (For details of our oversubscription criteria please see the School’s Admissions Policy for 2021 or click here)
Our Year 7 Admissions are coordinated by Warwickshire County Council (Warwickshire Admissions) on behalf of the school. If your daughter was born between 1st September 2010 and 31st August 2011, you may apply for her to sit the test for entry in September 2022. Candidates may sit the Entrance Test once only.
To find out more about admissions or registering for the 11+, including how to register your daughter, please visit Warwickshire County Council's website or contact the Schools Admission Service on email@example.com or telephone 01926 414143
Information and Important Dates for Parents and Carers
During the summer term of 2021, parents/carers of all the children in Year 5 in Warwickshire primary / junior schools will be issued with a leaflet, relevant to their area, about the process of selection. Parents / carers will be asked to register if they want their child to be tested. Parents / carers of children not attending those schools can contact Warwickshire County Council Admissions to request that information or visit the Warwickshire County Council Admissions website for more information.
Parents / carers whose children have a disability and / or require special resources to sit the Entrance Test must complete a supplementary form as well as a registration form and submit these to Warwickshire County Council Admissions or the Grammar Schools in Birmingham (depending with whom you are registering for the Entrance Test) by Friday 11th June 2021.
The closing date for registering for selection tests for all the selective schools in Warwickshire is Wednesday 30th June 2021. Registration after that date will be considered as late. An exception will be made for parent / carers who can provide evidence of a move of address into the priority circle by Friday 31st December 2021. Late registrations will only be considered after the first round of offers and may not be tested before the National Offer Day.
By Friday 15th October 2021, parents / carers will have been notified of their child's score in the Entrance Test. Parents / Carers who registered their child for the 11+ test online will be able to view their child's test results through the Local Authority's online portal. Parents / carers who registered their child for the 11+ test by submitting a paper registration form will be sent their child's test results through the post.
Applications will be made on the home authority’s Common Application Form as part of the coordinated process with neighbouring authorities. As set out in the Schools Admissions Code (2014), Sunday 31st October 2021 is the national closing date for secondary applications. Applications received after this date will be considered late and will be given a lower priority for places. An exception will be made for children moving into the priority circle where independent evidence can be provided by Friday 31st December 2021.
The available places will be offered in accordance with the admission criteria in the first round of offers – on National Offer Day, which is Tuesday 1st March 2022 (2022 Admissions) and Wednesday 1st March 2023 (2023 Admissions).
There will be two papers, each of approximately 50 minutes. The papers will be divided into smaller, individually timed sections, which test verbal ability, numerical ability and non-verbal ability.
For each paper, the children will be given a question booklet which contains the test questions and a separate answer sheet to mark their answers. The answer sheets will be processed electronically and scanned to make a record of each child’s answers.
A familiarisation booklet, containing information about the format of the test and some example questions, is available on the Warwickshire County Council website and in paper form on request. This will allow children to become familiar with the type of questions likely to be asked and the format of the test booklet and answer sheet, and information about how to write their answers on the answer sheet.
11+ Familiarisation Materials
The familiarisation guides (which can be found at the bottom of this page) are designed to inform parents and candidates about the entrance test in order to:
- Give a feel for the appearance of the actual assessment.
- Introduce some of the symbols and phrases used in the assessment.
- Inform parents and candidates of the invigilation procedure.
- Indicate the range of disciplines that will be tested.
- Highlight the range of answer formats used in the assessment.
The guides also include examples to indicate the range of skills required to complete the assessment and the manner in which questions are answered. The familiarisation booklet and the accompanying guides are not definitive and the inclusion of any question types does not guarantee that they will be found in the final assessment.
Please note: there are no commercially available practice test papers for these assessments.
This article highlights why our familiarisation efforts are even more important this year.
