SGGS Sixth Formers Triumph at the Bloxham Sustainability Challenge 2025

This year, two SGGS teams shone brightly at the Bloxham Sustainability Challenge, tackling the complex environmental and social impacts of the proposed Abingdon Reservoir, and their hard work truly paid off.
Team 1:
Zoe Bragg, Sophie Fear, Lauren Heaps, Sophie Schnurr and Vivienne Watt – were crowned winners of the 2025 Challenge! Their project impressed judges with its clarity, depth and critical thinking. Using ArcGIS mapping and local community surveys, they analysed five key sustainability issues and presented thoughtful, realistic solutions. Their work combined academic rigour with a strong sense of purpose, making it a stand-out submission.
Team 2:
Alice Williams, Ella Kirkman, Sky Denton and Matilda Jefferson – earned a Highly Commended award for their innovative ESRI StoryMap presentation. With engaging digital storytelling and detailed site-based research, they delivered a balanced analysis of environmental trade-offs and mitigation strategies.
The judges described both SGGS teams as among the strongest in the entire competition, praising their innovation, research and professionalism. A huge congratulations to all involved – you have not only showcased exceptional teamwork and critical thinking but also set an inspiring standard for sustainability in action that the whole school can be proud of!
