Last Night of the Proms

September's Last Night of the Proms is an opportunity for the Year 13 leavers, our newest alumnae, to return to school for a final musical performance and a farewell to the school and eachother, until we meet again.

Head of Music, Louise Burdett pulled off an amazing farewell to the Year 13’s yet again this year; Shottery’s Last Night of the Proms was absolutely unforgettable.  The concert contained a mix of beautiful classical pieces such as Squire’s Tarantella performed by Martha Bagnall and Debussy’s Arabesque No.1 performed by Phoebe Battison, as well as more modern numbers such as a Jackson’s Billy Jean performed by a quartet of leavers and  Franklin’s Respect performed by Junior Jazz Band. Highlights included the amazing Sweeny Todd medley which the Main School Choir performed beautifully and the breathtaking Take That Medley which brought the concert to a close with all girls on stage.

The standard of performance was particularly high, and all the girls involved should feel exceptionally proud.  The leavers' emotional performances and their dedication to this last performance clearly demonstrated the strength of their connection to Shottery, and the lifelong friendships made here.  It was this moving atmosphere that gave the concert its magic touch.
