Year 7 Parents Information Fundraising Evening

The first of our annual Year 7 information evenings was held on Tuesday 28 April.  The purpose of the evening was to give our new families the opportunity to be a part of the ongoing improvements to the school, year on year going forward.

This year, we are focusing on raising the funds for the equipment for the brand new building, due for handover in August, ready for the start of the school year in September.  The parent response was hugely enthusiastic, with 100% of the attendees wanting to be a part of the programme.  We are enormously grateful to have such interested parents who want to support the school and invest financially to benefit both their own daughters and all future Shottery girls.

The evening began with a welcome drink accompanied by the beautiful sound of a string quartet as the daylight faded and the views from the library windows dimmed.  Ms Barnett welcomed the parents and gave an overall account of how we have got to where we are today - nearing completion of a £3.6m build project - and explaining what happens next.

The Head Girl Team had prepared a fantastic film, (which you can see at the bottom of this page - do take a look!) which gave the viewers a real insight into school life and what an impact the new facilities will have for all the girls - as well as a view inside the new building!  They talked about the cost of equipping the building with the much-needed items, from tables and chairs to a climbing wall!  Information packs were handed out to everybody and parents were invited to indicate whether or not they would be interested in supporting this next phase.

These information evenings will be an annual event on the school calendar.  We are extremely lucky that our parents recognise the importance of an outstanding learning environment and the impact that state of the art facilities can have on the outcomes for all our learners.  We’d like to thank all of our supporters, from the first phase of the campaign up until now.  We really wouldn’t be where we are without you, and we are hugely excited about the future plans for the school.  More news will follow via the new school website which will be launched before the end of the summer term, so watch this space!
