Welcome

Welcome to Stratford Girls' Grammar School; a place where bright, ambitious girls succeed.  We are enormously proud of our position as the top girls' state school in Warwickshire and we work hard to ensure our permanent ranking as one of the best state schools in the country.  We shape futures.

People are often surprised to learn that we are not a fee-paying school.  It is a common misconception due largely to the destinations and outcomes of our students and our enviable setting on the outskirts of Stratford-upon-Avon, both of which are academically and culturally comparable to schools in the independent sector.

We are incredibly proud to be the trusted custodians of the beautiful Shottery Manor.  This historic 15th century building represents the long-upheld traditions of our school since it began in 1958, yet it sits elegantly and with ease alongside the modern state-of-the-art facilities that ensure our students benefit from truly 21st century teaching and learning.  This, together with our excellent extra-curricular opportunities, mean that our students are quickly and fully immersed into our community, encouraged and challenged to take advantage of all of the opportunities they are presented with.  Music, Drama, Art and Sport are all strengths within our school and we have a strong reputation for success in these areas.

You are warmly invited to explore our website to find out more about what we offer, how we can help you to achieve, the support we provide during your journey and of course how to apply to join us.

  • Shaping Futures

    Shaping Futures

The future is not a destination or a place. The benefits of pursuing a desired future are more valuable than arriving because when we try to shape our futures, we shape ourselves in the process.

  • Support

    Support

Ensuring a positive and robust support system is in place for each and every student is of paramount importance at SGGS. The benefits of having such a system, such as higher levels of well-being, increased motivation, improved coping and learning skills all contribute to a clearer pathway to success.

  • A Day of Colour – Friday 12th June We're coming together as a school community to support Young Minds Matter and raise awareness of the importance of positive mental health and wellbeing. We invite all students to dress up in their favourite colours to mark the occasion. We also acknowledge that this is the start of the Football World Cup, so students are welcome to wear a favourite football shirt. A £2 donation is requested to be paid via ParentPay to support the incredible work of Young Minds Matter, a local charity that works directly with our students at SGGS. Together, we can celebrate kindness, inclusion, and support for young people's mental health. Thank you for your support! . . #dayofcolour #sggscharities #youngmindsmatter #mentalhealth

  • Today, our school proudly celebrated the 100th birthday of the legendary David Attenborough : a true national treasure whose passion for the natural world has inspired generations across the globe. Throughout the day, students enjoyed a special showcase of some of his most iconic documentaries during break and lunchtime, taking time to appreciate the incredible beauty and diversity of our planet through his unforgettable storytelling and iconic voice. Students also took part in creative art competitions inspired by wildlife, conservation, and the wonders of nature, producing some truly fantastic work that reflected Sir David's lifelong message of curiosity, care, and respect for the environment. Of course, no celebration would be complete without our cardboard cut-out of Sir David making appearances all around school - posing for photos with students and staff alike! Happy 100th Birthday, Sir David and thank you for helping us see the beauty of Earth and reminding us all that every generation has a role to play in protecting it for the future. #sirdavidattenborough #sggscelebrates

  • We are very saddened to hear of the passing of our beloved honorary student, Topsy. . A cat is never "just a cat"; Topsy was loved by many of our students, who brightened their days with her cheeky, playful and loving nature, and she will be sorely missed by students and staff alike. . Topsy made a name for herself from her first appearance on our centre lawn back in Spring 2024, spending lunch and break times enjoying the sunshine whilst receiving lots of love and cuddles from our students – and even letting herself into the school building on numerous occasions. She was even the face of our Birthday Cards we give to students on their 18th Birthday. We know she also enjoyed frequenting our neighbouring primary schools, clearly drawn to the fuss and care she received from young people. As we'd say, 'Topsy Summers at SGGS': During the late spring and summer months, Topsy's presence quickly became part of daily life within our school community and many students and staff will have fond memories of stopping to say hello to her as she wandered confidently around the grounds. Topsy had a remarkable way of bringing comfort, laughter and calm to those around her, often appearing at just the right moment to lift someone's spirits. Although she was never officially enrolled, Topsy truly felt like part of the SGGS family, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her. We send our heartfelt condolences to her owners and to everyone in the wider community who came to know and love her. . . #sggs #inlovingmemory

  • Our Year 11 students marked their final day in main school with a well-deserved celebration before heading off on study leave. They enjoyed a pizza party and presentation in the main hall, before making their way to the Manor Gardens for an afternoon filled with laughter and karaoke. It was a fitting way to celebrate their journey and recognise all they have achieved during their time in main school. These moments capture a year group who have grown together, supported one another, and are now ready to embrace the next stage. We wish them all the very best of luck in the weeks ahead. . . . . #sggs #leavers2026 #goodluck #gcse #standdown
